Today is the fourth anniversary of Sophie’s saddening death. To get peoples attention of how much abuse people get for merely looking different facebook held a ‘Hug A Goth’ event which was dedicated to the memory of Sophie. Another short film was released on Illamasqua’s youtube account about the death and information of the S.O.P.H.I.E. foundation.

A film relaying the last horrifying moments of her life were released and showed to hundreds of supporters, the film called Dark Angel.

It’s saddening to think, and honestly, makes me very upset. But it’s an issue that we can’t deny. Every Goth or Alternative or Punk or anyone that chooses to dye their hair or change anything about themselves has felt the abuse. Even if that abuse was merely a harsh glare or a slightly sarcastic joke that abuse should be taken in silence.

We are all people and we deserve to be able to be ourselves.

It was such a sad thing when I heard about Sophie. It was such a big deal as a hate crime that it even showed up on the news in the states.

Crazy. I sincerely hope no one else ever has to go through something like that again.

This is very sad. I wish the murderers burn in hell, like I said in Gothic Divine Magazine. People like that aren't human. They are worse than demons. I don't wish that for anyone in this world. Sophie are with God now.

This is absolutely heartbreaking to me that things like this can happen. We all need to learn to get along regardless of the differences in our appearance and lifestyle.
