My Summer As A Goth

The above title is the name of an up and coming production that you have most likely heard about. I’ve know about it for quite a while and have had my doubt’s, of course, but the team seems very profound and who can doubt people who want a soundtrack that includes The Cure (My favourite band).

My Summer As A Goth is the story of a teen girl that is to stay with her grandparents for the summer and ends up falling in love with the town’s rebellious Goth boy. As a lover of romances I’m already excited. Through this she finds out who she is as a person. Whether that be a Goth girl or not, we are yet to know. Are you excited yet? I sure am! Though there are some thing’s I’m worried about.

The majority of current film’s are going through a trend. It’s not uncommon but definitely bland. Am I the only one who has noticed the same romantic comedies over and over, with the same basic structure? The climax is always commitment issues and it always end’s with some sort of chase followed by the sudden realisation of true love! How more bland and unrealistic can you get? I’m sure that the story line of My Summer As A Goth wont lead to this; I’m just frightened it will fall into common trends of ‘coming of age’ film’s always seem to get stuck between.

There’s one point in the back of my mind that really annoys me. There is an open ending to whether she will stay Goth or not, this I’m not surprised with and it wouldn’t worry me either way. Only the fact that the chances of this influencing the mindset of the viewers to whether Goth is a phase worries me and would very much annoy me.

To end this long, kind of, rant I’ll just say: All in all it’ll be nice to have another movie with a Goth as the main character and I’m excited! Most importantly, you should help put a stop to all of these rumours by donating to the production of this movie here, you can also watch the trailer. It’s a small project, the trailer was completed with only twelve people, and it would be lovely to see it through.

Best wishes,

P.S. You can also check out some information on the film at there blog here or you can like there facebook page for constant updates here.

Silliness? This sounds like it has a lot of potential.

But yes, it does annoy me when I read a story or watch a movie with a Goth, and she ends up becoming "normal." Le sigh ..

    Captcha: humus. Mmm. Humus.

I'm actually hoping this gets off the ground. Jillian Venters is involved so I'm sure it'll all follow the right track.

I wish the anonymous posted would have specified what exact is silly? I really hate it when people don't specify things.
