Review: SacraLuna’s Vertebrae Crystal Necklace

I’ve fallen in love with taxidermy jewellery and started collecting it. My third piece came recently and I’m even more in love! SacraLuna on Etsy combines preserved bones, crystals, feathers, sea horses and dream catchers into one-of-a-kind (literally) jewellery.  I think I’ll be buying from her a lot since the experience was brilliant.

Details:

  • All items come with free maintenance and repairs for the life of the item.
  • No animals were harmed in the making of the jewellery.
  • Worldwide shipping.
  • Free wooden box to store your piece in, which was a lovely surprise!

The necklace contains a vertebrae – after a quick email the owner told me it’s from a raccoon, the crystal is quarts and it’s wrapped with hemp string.

This necklace is a welcome addition to my budding taxidermy jewellery collection! I couldn’t be happier and after shortening the chain it’ll be perfect.

What are your thoughts on taxidermy and wearing bones? Do any of you collect such things, and have anywhere to suggest I check out?

  1. I love the idea of wearing bone jewelry, as long as the animal wasn't harmed for it. I want human bone jewelry, too…as long as humans weren't harmed for it, too. 😛

  2. I like taxidermy jewelry when tastefully done. I'm NOT a fan of people gluing corpses/corpse pieces on hats and other stuff. Or amputated limbs tacked onto stuff. If it looks lazily done, I'm not a fan. bone, especially carved bone, looks beautiful, imo. (my bone collection is in my blog post from a few days ago). I get my bone jewelry from bodyartforms.com (they've got earrings that aren't for gauged ears too)…based out of the US though.

  3. I like your thinking and innovative ideas to wear the bone jewelry. I personally like to wear crystal jewellery. Recently I have visited a Tresor Paris Outlet for crystal ornaments and as I wish it fulfill my requirements. Beside of your bone jewellery collections if your are interested for crystal collections may visit there.
