What I’m Watching this Halloween

Films are the simplest way to get into the spirit of the any season! Inspired by Halloween I’ve been living out of my computer screen, particularly with the releases of some new seasons (Supernatural, American Horror Story, and Pretty Little Liars all in my little month in which I have no time!). Here’s what I’m watching in my barely-there spare-time this October.

American Horror Story: Coven

Certainly not for the faint of heart (the first episode should have had a trigger warning, I swear) but the prospect of a series focusing on modern witches is a bit too good to be true. While the serious hasn’t started off with as much bang as previous seasons there’s a lot of promise (lots of black and lots of dark humour) and I’m hoping the pace will fasten soon!

The Entire Scream Series

This series has been my favourite horror series since I was loud enough to proclaim it. It’s only been rewatching the series this Halloween that I realised how much of each film are parodies of the horror genre within itself and criticism of television! There are so many jokes that I didn’t get when I was younger that rely on a marathon watch of each film. (Tory Spelling anyone?)

Practical Magic

There not much more to say than this is my favourite witchy film of all time!

Little Shop of Horrors

One of my favourite horrors of my childhood, this eighties film, scared the hell out of me! What more could a child be frightened of than an plant-in-disguise singing alien that eats people! It’s a quirky eighties film and musical combined into something too perfect for words.

What are you watching this October? Are you a horror fan or a Tim Burton addict?

  1. American Horror Story Coven has definitely been gripping so far! I can't resist things about New Orleans and witches! I do have a terrible sense of inevitable doom for all the poor characters though, AHS does love to torture it's characters!

I love Practical Magic. I am reading the book at the moment (along with several others, do not sure when it will be finished) and I adore the movie! I want to watch it again! I get excited every time it is on tv!

  2. I'm personally more a fan of the Halloween movies of my childhood (Hocus Pocus and Tim Burton Movies!) but right now I'm also in the middle of watching Supernatural so that's providing my darker horror (and angsty drama) fix.
