Which Shoe Would You Choose: Summer Flats

You know what really annoys me when I’m shopping for shoes online? When the retail doesn’t include a picture of the shoe worn. It’s like buying a dress without knowing how the material is going to fall! But I digress, this post is actually about my need for a new pair of flat shoes. Not house flats (My newest pair of flats has fallen into that position), but some thing a little fancy, that I could wear in summer without overheating and is good quality. Something that I won’t wear while learning how to use a whipper snipper (for some of you that may be called a weed-wacker) like I did today.

So above are the options that I’m considering. Each with their ups, downs and varying quality. None including a large heel. Which shoe would you choose?

  1. I adore the modcloth ones– they're not something I've commonly seen, unlike the other two. I would probably add studs to it, too because the price is right enough that I wouldn't feel bad about installing them lol

  2. I have learned the hard way that, unless it's a vintage shoe or it's one you've bought in the past and are replacing, it's NOT usually a good idea to buy shoes online unless you can't avoid it for some reason. That's why I'm probably not going to do it anymore.

My first choice would be the Jeffrey Campbell flats, followed by the Modcloth ones. The brogues are too shiny, will be hot on a hot day, and are NOT good with shorts or sundresses; also, they look like men's wedding shoes to me!

But if you really can't decide between them, get two… or heck, get them all!

  3. I have a pair of oxfords and I love them…but I wouldn't recommend it for the summer or patent leather (looks like little kid or tap-dancing shoes). you might pull it off–you've got lots of cute dresses that would probably go with it. definitely one you should try before you buy. I hate kitten heels like nothing else, so no jeffrey campbell for me… the modcloth one seems to be the winner for me.

  4. I like the Modcloth ones…but I always seem to bang my toes in open toe shoes so that probably affects my choice. Plus high ankle straps often make your legs look shorter. I have short legs to begin with so this probably only applies to me too lol. The patent shoes are nice but they'll make your feet overheat in the summer and lace ups often aren't as versatile with dresses and skirts if you're not wearing tights or socks 🙂
