OotD: Metalhead Jewellery & Platform Boots

Today I ventured out into a scenic park with the intention to take some totally-profesh fashion blogger pictures. In that regard I think Coen did an awesome job taking shots of some of my newest favourites. I.e my new super comfy PVC boots, these thrifted tapestry shorts and my new hardcore metal rings I’m in love with (you wouldn’t think jewellery and badass-ary would fit together in a single piece).

Metalhead jewellery was super awesome and actually chucked in a free piece that I can’t find on their website; I was so surprised! The ring I ordered was the convex ring which is the huge hunk of metal band with beautiful scratches and grazes. The other is this beautiful little ring with tonnes of hunks scraped out of it. It looks a lot like the erode ring. Obvious by the construction these are handmade (the shipping time reflects this). The first time I put these on I was scared they’re break my little fingers! They’re nice and heavy – not too heavy – and very very metal.

But raving about my new rings isn’t the point of this post … I also have to rant about my awesome new shoes! I was beginning to become super jealous of everyone taking advantage of the nineties shoes trend. I wasn’t ready to jump full force into gigantic platforms or buckles everywhere but I did fall in love with these babies (that happen to be on sale). The heel isn’t too large (I wouldn’t mind it being taller), but they are super-super comfy. I can actually run in them – unlike most heeled shoes, even thick heeled shoes usually force me to do a little trot-run instead of an actual run. Does anyone else do that?

The boots are also pretty good at edging up these – what I think are – really pretty shorts. The first time I wore them someone laughed at me on the street followed by loud commentary. It’s one of those moments I really question whether my taste is really off because I think these shorts are absolutely beautiful. Nicely tailored and perfect fitting for thrifted shorts, and floral that’s very inspired by tapestry with flowers that really do look like they’ve been painted on. It’s an item that I briefly debated being too bright, but I loved them too much to let that stop me. I’ll just have to pair them with something equally as bad-ass as a hail Satan shirt and PVC boots every time.

  1. I think the shorts are beautiful! But I'd use them with a tank top instead.

The smile on the first picture, oh my ♥ It's beautiful! HAHA

And I trot-run on heels as well, you're not alone!

  2. Love the boots! I find the same problems with heels, so ungraceful! I like the combination of such a feminine flowery garment with something masculine and badass, it makes for a nice balance I think.
