As much as I love the look of bright pink, orange and colourful altars filled with crystals and flowers, I don’t think that suits me personally. I feel like that kind of alter would be an estranged object rather than a reflection of myself. So instead, I’m hoping to go for a greener alter, much more like the traditional outdoor types but brought inside.
Flowers & Plants
Don’t worry, there will still be flowers. I adore flowers, have I mentioned that before? Dried flowers, blossoming flowers, plants that don’t even flower, tiny compact flowers and soft dewy flower. Oh and I want to include a pot plant in my altar – which fits nicely with my other end of year goal to grow a plant!
And Other Found Objects
I want to focus on scavenging as much as I
can from nature, since it’s kind of going to work as my nature
appreciation altar. Then tie the whole shelf together with some select
pieces that will allow ti to sit more naturally in the space of my room.
Pictures of forests with pressed flowers in the frames – skulls and bones – preserved insects – clear, white and other sheer crystals – bottles of herbs – sage and lavender smudge wands.
What does your altar look like? Or what would it look like if you had one? I feel like they’re a great way to focus your energy on the positive things in your life. They’re a place to fill with the beautiful parts of the world you want to consciously remind yourself exist, especially since we tend to forget those bits and piece or places when you’re feeling down.
