Birds N Bones Jewelry always manages to surprise me with new and awesome designs that are super versatile. And I mean versatile in that they can be worn with almost anything and work for people of different sizes and shapes (as an ultra skinny girl, it can be hard to find jewellery that fits). So, when they asked if they could send me some more jewellery, I was super excited! Especially since I really loved the Mus Hip Knuckle Ring that they sent last time.

They surprised me by sending me their beautiful Wyvern Rib Bangle, which is cast from a real python rib and is a part of their dragon inspired collection Curio Dragonis, and the Xenarthra Pendant, cast from an armadillo vertebrae and a part of their classic collection. If you haven’t noticed by now most of their jewellery is cast from real animal bones which is what makes each piece so beautifully detailed.

Dragon vertebrate scales are made of a substance known
as keratin, such as hair and nails, and were shaped in a way to make the
creature more aerodynamic.

This bangle, this bangle, man. Let me start by saying that I’ve never considered myself a bangle kind of person – or a bracelet kind of person. I have the same issue with my wrists as I do with fingers (they’re super thin) which means it’s hard to find jewellery that fits. But this bangle is perfect.

I prefer to slide it up on my arm so that it fits comfortably, but even around my wrist it never falls off. There’s no need to distort it to fit it on or to keep it on! And I actually forget I’m wearing it, which is a blessing. My number one gripe with jewellery is when it annoys you.

Armadillo armor is formed by plates of dermal bone covered in
relatively small, overlapping epidermal scales called “scutes”, composed
of bone with a covering of horn.

The Xenarthra pendant is a beautiful pendant in all accounts. It’s sturdy and comfortable enough that I’ve literally fallen asleep with it on – which is certainly not something I would do in real bone jewellery. Plus, the fact that it’s an armadillo vertebrae I find amazing!

I’m so excited to style these! I think they would be the perfect touch to a minimalist styled outfit (if you haven’t read about my recent obsession with minimalism check out my post on minimalism wardrobe tips). So, be prepared to see that soon!

What do you think? Would this be something you’d buy? Is it a nice alternative to wearing real bones? I prefer these pieces to real bones, as real bones weather in the elements. Metal is much sturdier.

Very pretty! I really don't wear rings or bracelets for the same reason as you, but I'll keep my eye on this shop.

Wow! Like you, I hate jewellery that you have to fiddle with or makes you remember it is there by being uncomfortable. I have pretty much given up on rings as much as I love the look of a ring encrusted hand, because I just fiddle with them and it drives me crazy!

These are such gorgeous looking pieces!

I have the same problem with jewellery, it annoys me very easily so anything that doesn't is amazing. These pieces look stunning, need!
