Welcome back to Alt Update! I can’t believe it’s been four months since my first (and last) post in this series. I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue Alt update, but this month has had so much amazing news for us spooky types! From aging punks to the trailer for Mrs Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children – let’s get into it!

Screw youth subcultures. Punk is for people of all ages. Just check out these older punks in the Jean Paul Gaultier runway show.

One of the hottest trends for autumn, according to Jean Paul Gaultier, is putting two fingers up to aging gracefully.

The kids from Mrs Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children are back, this time in film format! I can’t wait. It looks both enchanting and spooky. And the characters fit perfectly with the historical images from the books.

Speaking of Tim Burton (oh, did I not mention Mrs Peregrine is being filmed by Tim Burton?), Beetlejuice returns with Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton returning from the original film!

Check out these teenage bedrooms from the nineties!
This is the perfect article if you’re looking for authentic nineties
inspiration. They remind me of my teenage bedroom, covered in Harry
Potter magazine clippings.

I started it on the West Coast, when I lived there, just out of
frustration at the ways teenagers were being depicted. Because this was
before the internet, this was before computers, and our reliance on
television was huge. There weren’t a lot of outlets for people to
represent themselves, especially young people. There was this TV show I
remember around that time, Beverly Hills 90210, and it was just… it was just atrocious.

Horrorfreak News took all of the hard work out of searching for niche horror genres on Netflix with this killer list. Slasher and Serial Killer Movies, and Teen Screams are calling my name!

Hayley William’s from Paramore is starting her own line of bright hair colours. Should we care? Sure! There’s always room for more weird hair options.

Here’s what I’m reading this month, what about you?
