Today I woke up with a bob.
Well, okay, I had my hair cut yesterday (as of publishing this, it’s actually been a couple weeks). But it doesn’t really appear until the next day. That’s when you wake up, puffy faced and styling-less, and you can really look at the horrible mistake you’ve made.
Just kidding! For once I’ve woken up and I love it more than I did when I first had it done. It’s had time to settle into my face. Do you know what I mean?
This sudden short hair has got me all obsessed with head-wear. When I had long hair, I was always worried about it getting messed up. A small breeze could push it out of the delicately styled do I did before I left the house. There was no chance I’d purposefully mess that up with a beanie!
But an elegantly styled bob simply falls back into place. And if it gets messed up, I just look all the more punk rock, am I right?
So, here goes. Let’s start the bob-spiration.
Since I’ve gotten a bob I’ve gone back to listening to my old favourite girl punk bands. I can’t believe I stopped loving Heaven’s to Betsy. This kind of hair is making me channel my inner riot girl again! I need more floral bridesmaid dresses and flannel shirts.
Since I’ve gotten a bob, I feel simultaneously more elegant.
Since I’ve gotten a bob I realised how many of my favourite alternative characters have amazing bobs that look exactly like mine. Jane Lane from Daria, Enid from Ghost World, Scully from X-Files (original series).
Since I’ve gotten a bob, it’s made me want to cover it up! With hats, that is. I feel like a bob goes perfectly with all of the hair accessories.
What about you? Is it about time you changed up your look? I know for me, a hair cut has been long overdue. My ends were dead and still red from a million years ago. I’m still trying to grow out my side-cut – which is so much more difficult with long hair, and I just ended up putting it in a bun every day. Oh, and are you a bob fan? I didn’t think I was, but suddenly I am! Who knew?
